I see here in the email client I am using that what you say is correctly displayed. I do see a > symbol before each line of your message when writing back though.

(I have quoted it exactly in my reply, but your client may decide to wrap or otherwise pretty it up.) Your client is producing a MIME "multipart/alternative" body, with one text/plain version and one text/html version, and only the text/html version is formatted as you describe. Since my client lets me see the original message, complete with headers and MIME markup, I can tell you definitively that your client does a lousy job of rendering HTML to plain text. -- Bob Rogers http://www.rgrjr.com/

In the message source what is seen quoted above is exactly what the first part of the Content-Type: multipart/alternative; message received contained, just a run-on with all whitespace following every "." stripped displayed by SeaMonkey in plain-text only mode. The second part contained roughly as much HTML litter as content: <div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div> -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. It depends on what style it takes. There is a bug in Thunderbird html editor that makes style "preformatted" to do just that unless you use the proper incantation. It's a bit tricky. I am this instant on an ancient Leap install, TB 91.4.0, so my testing now would be irrelevant. -- Saludos/Cheers Carlos E. R. (using Leap 15.2 on Andor)

HTML version parses fine in K-9 mail on Android, but extra blanks are collapsed when viewing with lynx on a Real Computer. So, yeah, HTML still sucks :-) HAND :-D -- David T-G See http://justpickone.org/davidtg/email/ See http://justpickone.org/davidtg/tofu.txt

The html part of the email displays as intended. It is the plain text part that is generated wrong by Thunderbird. A bug in Thunderbird. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.5 x86_64 at Telcontar)
