Yes. I run 7.1 here. Updated to 2.4.2 after dicovering that my scsi "disappeared" I shortly discovered that mk_initrd is needed before rerunning lilo. It's covered in the SuSE Handbook (7.1) under kernel section Ambrosius

Report this to SuSe Support. This happened to me also and hosed my sys. You Can refer them to me as well in the report. It maybe that they need to update the HOWTO or sdb on kernel upgrades or there is a flaw. I was told by someone on the list to back up the modules.conf and one other file, can't remember which. Note: Since this is not related to a stock install they my send you a generic support letter stating as much.
Is this peculiar to 6.4 or 7.0 upgrade, or does it happen when upgrading the kernel under 7.1 as well? That was the one, setups everything and configs it so lilo and the sys are on the same page. This is different from other distro - so it came out of the blue for me and I think the same thing happened to Dave. SuSE should have an HOWTO for this and cross index it about 70+ different ways - that way newbies can't help but run into the guide. Cheers. Curtis On Sunday 20 May 2001 14:54, Harold ! wrote:
