Hello, I need $subj, but yast2 doesn't seem to have this option (or at least i can't find it). I know there are some obscure tools called ip,ifconfig, route :) but how is it done "The SuSE way" ? -- Razvan Cosma SysAdmin Telemach SRL Piatra Neamt razvan.cosma@catv.telemach.ro Linux Registered User #239230

I believe that you can use virtual ethernet interfaces (eth0:1, eth0:2, etc.) in YaST, just as you can with ifconfig. -- David Smith Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com STMicroelectronics Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk Bristol, England

Basically, assuming that the card in question is eth0, you want to define further devices following this convention: eth0:1, eth0:2 etc etc Thing is, you're right, there doesn't seem to be an option to do this in YaST2, but you can do it in YaST1... System Administration -> Network configuration -> Network base configuration Select a device that's not configured, and hit F5 Select <Enter other device> call it eth0:1 or whatever Then configure it as usual... -- James Ogley, Unix Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk www.pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 7.x) This email was created and sent with Ximian Evolution 1.0.2 NEW: Advogato diary at www.advogato.org/person/riggwelter *********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY. Heh.. have I found a bug? yast1 configures the second ip, but won't activate it when I hit F4. I checked /etc/rc.config, the address is there, but only _0 in the list, so I add _1, and youpee! it works :) I just hope now yast2 won't delete it when I run configure the firewall & stuff.
