-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 When I press the delete button in Sylpheed (eg email) every once in a while it deletes 2 records. I have been trying to figure out if the problem is with Sylpheed (doubtful as this did not appear under 8.1 with the same release of Sylpheed). So, the issue then becomes one of GTK, KDE or QT. Since I had only seen this under Sylpheed, I really did not want to pursue it further, but yesterday it happened to me from the KDE panel. I clicked an application on the KDE panel (specifically jpilot) and I got 3 instances of it. That should eliminate Sylpheed and GTK. Since most of my button pushes are in Sylpheed, it would show up there most often. I've also increased the double-click interval, although maybe I should decrease that. In any case, I want to find out if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem. That is a single click of the left mouse button on a KDE button or menu resulting in 2 or more actions. I'm running KDE 3.1.1 (standard out of the box for SuSE 8.2 + upgrades via YOU). - -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/fZYD+wA+1cUGHqkRApCKAJ9iZbgN2E05VWagOP/1NS4Zzdr9rACeOzgJ m9fK7GvSWwwh3EliGxY9Fyo= =wq5I -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Happens to me quite often under Kmail. If I want to scroll through the TRASH folder (for example) and I click once on the scroll bar, about 1 in 4 times I will scroll twice. I figure it's a bug in KDE or possibly X handling of the mouse. Here's a question, the mouse I am running is a Kensington Expert mouse with a scroll wheel. Does your mouse by chance have a scroll wheel? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Not to rule out a software fault, microswitches of the type that is usually used in mice tend to work or not work, sometimes when on the verge of breaking they "flidder" between on and off when pressed. I have seen this on a computer I repaired once it started like 5 copies of everything you clicked. If the mouse is valuable to you. The microswitches are changeable if you have replacement parts (from old slaughtered mice) and a steady soldering hand.

Have both of those... but don't think it is needed. In my case, I have never seen a failure other than scrolling in Kmail. An intermittant 'bad clicker' would show itself in other ways... -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
