midgars appears to be a permanent feature of my system now. I can re-install it, but I can't remove it anymore. As to the can not run mysqld below, mysql is running. You might try adding '--noscripts' to the rpm command when you try removing the package. If you're trying to remove from Yast, you could try rpm -e --noscripts midgard from the command line, as root. Jim
