For several days now, while trying to upgrade using smart I get messages similar to this:- error: Failed to download packages: error: http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/rpm/i586/kernel-default-2.6.22.12-0...: Unexpected size (expected 21215623, got 728540) error: http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/rpm/i586/nautilus-2.20.0-5.2.i586.r...: Unexpected size (expected 1610564, got 743140) Can anybody let me know is this a problem with smart, the repository, the package or my system? And how do I fix it? I'm running OpenSuSE 10.3 Thanks Phil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

*probably* the mirror where you are being redirected is not up-to-date yet. Either try to access a site directly or wait for the mirror to sync. note: download.opensuse.org redirects. suggestions: skynet.be and gwdg.de - -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn4472 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHPDZWClSjbQz1U5oRAgofAKCBevIYlh8SEJKxNOLEl6R8KfkfSACfT06h QCE0UHrMwpg2c/3fIJoDdTc= =hvwq -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What does the SMART disk-drive health monitor have to do with upgrading?

No, it's not SMART that's causing the problem
the repository,
possibly
the package
not quite as likely
or my system?
doubtful
And how do I fix it?
Did you try downloading them again? Have you checked your internet connection? When was the last time you did an fsck on the filesystem?
I'm running OpenSuSE 10.3
Thanks Phil

What might have been 'smart' is to avoid replying when you don't know what the OP is talking about ;-) I think the other reply was close to the mark. ie, wait until the mirror has had time to sync, if they are new updates. Also try updating your file list by doing "smart update" before trying again. Also try joining the 'smart' mail list. It's low-traffic and responsive.
