I recently did an apt-get upgrade and got this error message: Executing RPM (-Uvh)... warning: /var/cache/apt/archives/modutils_2.4.25-78_i586.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 8750d2c4 warning: /var/cache/apt/archives/libapr0_2.0.48-31_i586.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID efb694ea warning: /var/cache/apt/archives/gqview_1.3.7-0.pm.1_i586.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID cd3140cd Preparing... ########################################### [100%] file /usr/include/valgrind/calltree.h from install of kdesdk3-devel-3.1.94_2004010210-0 conflicts with file from package kcachegrind-0.4.2-49 E: Sub-process /bin/rpm returned an error code (156) What is the problem here? Is NOKEY for these files the problem? The packages are downloaded but not upgraded. Thanks, Jerome

The problem is that the /usr/include/valgrind/calltree.h is currently owned by kcachegrind-0.4.2-49 (kde-3.1), while in kde-3.2 the file will be provided by kdesdk3-devel. That is what you're told by rpm (/bin/rpm). You can remove kcachegrind (apt remove kcachegrind), which smootens the way for kdesdk3-devel. Or you use apt --force upgrade. Are you sure you want to install kde-3.2 btw? I have it running and it runs fine. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

I am not sure. I assumed because it is available it is a 'good thing'. Since you have it running fine why do you ask? Thank you for helping me understand this error messages. Is there a way to get a list of error messages and their meanings for a given application? Jerome
