[opensuse] Plymouth Boot Splash Disappeared on Tumbleweed
Hi, I was doing some testing on a machine with a fresh install of Tumbleweed snapshot 20160205, and noticed the Plymouth boot splash screen wasn't coming up. Between the GRUB2 phase and sddm phase during most all test boots, all I got was a black screen . What was strange is that during one boot I got the green Leap splash screen (yet this is definitely not Leap), and another time I actually did get the turquoise Tumbleweed boot splash screen and was able to press ESC and see boot messages. That seemed to be a fluke, though, as now with every boot all I get is a black screen and pressing ESC or any other key does absolutely nothing, nor trying to switch TTY's during the boot process. The monitor doesn't go to sleep, but just displays pure black. On this same exact machine with a fresh Leap install everything is fine, and prior Tumbleweed snapshots didn't do this. If I change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash=silent quiet showopts" (which is the default) to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=0 then I see all boot messages. So it seems as though something is broken with plymouth. In this snapshot. Is anyone else having this issue? I saw the same issue on reboot after most recent dup on Tumbleweed. Blinking cursor in upper left hand corner of screen. Was kind of unsettling. Wonder if it was going to even successfully boot.
