Dear Mr. Pacheco ,
I find myself in a state of Uttar Pradesh [deep-dodo] trying to upgrade from Suse 8.0 to Suse 9.0
I have already downloaded most all the RPMs needed, using "apt-get"
I do not have a CD burner . . . can you see a method of adapting your ideas ? . . . Is it possible to Boot from a 3-1/2" floppy, load modules from floppy, and then select a "network" install from my Hard Disk directory using the RPMs that I have already downloaded ??
You'll need several disks to do it. Boot Modules1 Modules2 Modules3 Modules4 etc. Then you can load the modules manually and setup the network install, assuming you have ftpd or nfsd running on the machine with the files. You should also be able to install from rpms on the disk, providing they are configured the way Yast wants to see them for the install. Look in the ftp directories to see what hidden files are needed to direct the orchestra through the installation waltz.
