[opensuse] 42.2 - No IPv6 privacy address on Ethernet
I can get a MAC based IPv6 address, using Network Manager, but not the random number based privacy address. The connection is configured with privacy "Enabled (prefer temporary address)" and have tried both Automatic and Automatic (only addresses) in the configuration. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Forgot to mention, WiFi gets both address types. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

In Leap422, we have reverted to the earlier policy of no ipv6 privacy. What does this say: cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/*/use_tempaddr -- Per Jessen, Zürich (1.2°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's 2 for the Ethernet port and 1 for WiFi. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

So both ought to be getting the a random address, but only the ethernet port will use it. But you're not getting any random address? Looking at my leap422 test server, I have the random addresses. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (-1.6°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I also have 42.2 in a virtual machine. It shows 1 and has both MAC and privacy addresses. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

So it's just your wifi that doesn't get the random address? Perhaps a NetworkManager issue? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (3.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

No, it's the Ethernet that doesn't get it on the notebook computer. Wifi on the same computer and Ethernet on the virtual machine get both the privacy and MAC addresses. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
