Whoops - 10.3 86_64. Yes I installed codecs as soon as I had 10.3 running. Fairly sure I have used youtube since then. Konq is ok on the site too but decided to lock up at one point - might be nothing to do with youtube. Lot's of firefox windows up and my isp is hopeless sometimes around 6pm. You tried with firefox? A stupid question: The youtube video was loaded? I just use konqueror to browse my files, sorry, I don´t have much experience with konqueror and Youtube. Cheers. On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 2:54 PM, John <john_82@tiscali.co.uk> wrote:

In my own experience the same thing happens with Iceape and Seamonkey on the Debian Etch and Ubuntu Hardy distributions as well as OpenSuSE. Doesn't always start to work again after the browser is closed down and re-started. AMD64 version but also someties on the 32-bit versions. Thanks. That has fixed it. I downloaded a yum from adobe. Launched it and yast got lost in space. Did a right click install with yast and all went ok. The notes on this list suggest continually adding to mails. That way people can follow the progress and see the fix if there is one. Me I keep some mails off lists for ref and as many snip them in way that looses reference to the subject I have to edit and add to them sometimes before sending them to myself. :) John -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In a round about way it suggests that sigs should only contain a name but then reluctantly allows a limited extended sig. On other mailing list I usually use the version of software that I am using as part of my sig. On cups it would include my cups version too and so on. All relevant information.

Ok Carlos after this one I will. I have tried to use list archives in the past and it can be an irritating pass time. Threads wonder of topic, just stop, are way out of date and the answer if there is one is buried in lots of others. Hence adding fixed to my last post on this thread. I've also noted that some people snip points about the initial problem. That really shouldn't happen. People also answer before they have looked at other posts on the subject. Some carry on posting on a topic after it's been solved. This all goes together to make archives a mess. Often an unusable mess. Make the list look a bit strange too. Not neccessarily. If the subject is clear enough, then it's probably not neccessary to copy the entire thread. Just the meat of the current part of the discussion is neccessary
Anyway thanks to Patrick. I've asked a few suse specific questions on here and this is the 1st time I've had a useful answer - even though it may not be suse specific issue.
The Linux world is more than just 1 distro.
One question resulted in a huge volume of mail that had no relation what so ever to the original question. That sort of thing has much more effect on the volume of traffic and makes the thread useless too. It happens from time to time. eg what's the point in the current IRC thread - basically a total lack of discipline in relation to what this list is intended for.
That's life. Discussions get off track all the time. That's why it's neccessary to try to get it back on track and/or split topics into different threads(and it helps to let people know that that is actually being done also). It's also why there are supposed to be moderators. All you were being asked was to prune out what you were quoting: 1. Don't include someone else's signature. 2. Remove things that aren't relevant. 3. Don't top post. Bottom post underneath of what you are replying to, and not the whole message at one time. It makes things easier to understand. Also, keep in mind that there are still people using 56k modems. Having a huge thread with all kinds of unncessary quoting makes for a bad experience. It's bad enough that most websites think everyone is using a T1 or better now. Good luck. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I find it generally unnecessary to copy the entire thread; that's what online archives are for. Or gmane. They contain the entire thread and generally preserve the threading.
