Kinda along the lines of Eazel...how do I setup Gnome on SuSE?
I installed it, but how do I tell SuSE to use it's login manager, etc.
instead of KDE?
Thanks,
Daniel

Saw a post on linuxtoday.com and decided to take a look at it.
They say they have .rpm's for RH, any chance this might work on SuSE 6.4 or 7.0?
I thought about giving it a go tonight for drill, but wanted to post to the list and see if anyone else has tried.
BTW, thanks a bunch for the responses about upgrading to the new kernel!I will definately wait. It's not a big deal for me to wait.
Thanks again, Daniel

This can be done with YAST, but when I switched to GDM, I had no keyboard functions and could only reboot. I posted to the list about this, but got no response. If it happens to you, boot to init:2 and call YAST again to switch back to KDM. The GDM login looked nice, but it wouldn't work for me. Hope you have better luck. I switched to it by letting Ximian (formerly helixcode) Gnome switch it for me during the installation process: http://www.ximian.com/ However after I did that I couldn't choose any other type of desktop manager (besides failsafe and gnome). Then after I rebooted it told me that the gdm directory wasn't owned by the correct group. It's group was set to "shadow". And after I reboot again the gdm directory is reowned by shadow group. I gave up and started using kdm (login manager) against my will. Any help, Dannie -- Dannie M Stanley SpinWeb Net Designs, Inc. http://www.spinweb.net Daniel Casey wrote:
