Hi, as I've got no manuals,is K6 CPU replacing just a detach-attach proc. (after detaching the cooler :-) and configuring the jumper) or do I need to work on other config sides? You need tha manual or tech docs for the motherboard , as votage and cpu speeds and some other stuff diffres form pentuim ones. Also need to se the mb to pc100 if your using that kink of memory. Check the Mother Board makes web page , should find a list of all jumper settings for the board there. At 01:00 PM 12/29/1999 +0000, Stefano Papini wrote:

It probably depends on your motherboard. In most cases it's a simple operation. Pull out the old, swap a jumper or two, put in the new. You may have a motherboard that configures automatically though, or one that needs adjustments in the bios. If I were you I would try to find some info on the net about your motherboard before I did the upgrade. Make sure it supports the processor for one, and then find out how to make the changes. It really shouldn't be too hard. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darren R. It all depends on your MB. if it is older you will not be able to go to a k62 as it uses a 2.2 or 2.4 volt core and the k6 was a 2.8 or a 3.3? I dont remember but most MB from the k6 days wont go down to 2.4 volts for the core.. Ron Darren R. Weber wrote:

Yup. I've done it 3 times (K5-166+ > K6-2 350 > K6-III 450). -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
