11.2 Shtudown computer from kde works fine. From xfce it leaves it stuck at the three greeen stipes screen unless someone hits the button on the computer. Where can I start to look? It might help if you could post the syslog entries for a kde shutdown and the xfce shutdown. Barry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

11.2 Shtudown computer from kde works fine. From xfce it leaves it stuck at the three greeen stipes screen unless someone hits the button on the computer. Where can I start to look?
As a workaround, you can log out from xfce, then power off from the login screen instead. In fact, this is what I always do, from inside kde or gnome. An alternative is to log-out, then switch to a text console, and without login-in, do the three finger salute: this will reboot or halt the computer, depending on your configuration in /etc/inittab: # what to do when CTRL-ALT-DEL is pressed ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -r -t 4 now Mmmm... in previous versions, the alternative was written there but commented out. It would be: ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -h -t 4 now Another alternative, is to log in as root, be it inside xfce or outside in a text console, and simply type "halt". I often do this one. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
