Suse 7.1 kernel 2.4.3 /dev/hdh1 -ext2 /dev/hdh2 -swap /dev/hdh3 -reiserfs Background - a number of lock-ups -possibly caused by a faulty keyboard meant that I had to reboot the system without shuting down several times. Reiserfs worked well and the system kept coming back up. However eventually this failed as well. In rescue (suse CD) I tried, reiserfsck. reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/hdh3 Do you want to run this program [N/yes] (note you need to type yes):yes Replaying journal..ok unread_super_block: neither new nor old reiserfs format fount on dev 0x22 : 0x43 reiserfsck: no reiserfs found. Can anyone suggest how I might get around this ? Status -not critical, but the kernel was working well and it would be nice to keep it. Brian Marr Bootlog lp0: using parport0 (polling). Background - a number of lock-ups -possibly caused by a faulty keyboard meant that I had to reboot the system without shuting down several times. Reiserfs worked well and the system kept coming back up. However eventually this failed as well.
In rescue (suse CD) I tried, reiserfsck.
reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/hdh3
Do you want to run this program [N/yes] (note you need to type yes):yes Replaying journal..ok unread_super_block: neither new nor old reiserfs format fount on dev 0x22 : 0x43 reiserfsck: no reiserfs found.
You have a 3.6 version reiserfs on /dev/hdh3 ? (that is, not made with the mkreiserfs that shipped with Suse, but with the latest mkreiserfs utils ? Suse rescue kernel is a 2.2.X kernel, which can not handle 3.6 resiserfs. (anyone from Suse please correct me if Im wrong ;) ) Kind regards, -- Gerhard den Hollander Phone +31-10.280.1515 Technical Support Jason Geosystems BV Fax +31-10.280.1511 (When calling please note: we are in GMT+1) gdenhollander@jasongeo.com POBox 1573 visit us at http://www.jasongeo.com 3000 BN Rotterdam JASON.......#1 in Reservoir Characterization The Netherlands This e-mail and any attachment is/are intended solely for the named addressee(s) and may contain information that is confidential and privileged.
