RE: [SuSE Linux] Re: Difference between German and English?
Hi Hubert:
I was just wondering, what is the difference between the German and international (English) versions of SuSE?
Of course, I know that the manual is in German in the German version, bot does it differ from the international version in other ways?
One main difference: The German version contains all that crypto stuff like ssh, cipe and so on. Because we are exporting from the USA, we have to respect the US export laws which do not allow exporting crypto software. Even when it has been imported before.
When I buy OpenBSD 2.4 from Computer Literacy Bookstore, San Jose the CD-ROM comes with strong crypto apps that are integrated into the OS. Computer Literacy Bookstore imports the software from Canada and resells it in the US; that is not illegal. Why can't I buy the crypto version of SuSE Linux in international English imported from Germany in a similar way? Or, how about distributing the English version from Canada instead of the US?
