I was about to purchase 8.2 but read that the amd k6-3d (i am using the 450 Mhz) is not supported. I checked the suse hardware database and it said it is only supported up to 8.1 Is this true or do you have to do something else to get to run on a such a system? Any information or direction I would greatly appreciate it. Harry A.

I find that one hard to believe, but I have 8.2 on the way, and I have a K6-3 400Mhz, so I will let you know if someone else doesn't. I am already running a Mantel kernel 2.4.20, KDE 3.1.1, so I can hardly believe something would be so different with the gcc 3.3 stuff (I now have 8.0). -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Please dont tell that to my Compaq Laptop. I upgraded it to 8.2 and so far the only problem I have (other than the Software Update Cancel loop) is the dma doesnt work anymore. The AMD K6-3d doesnt know it isnt supposed to work. Sshhhhhhhh! richard

What I am about to share is Mandrake based, but may have some relevance. I have a K62-450 that runs Mandrake 8.1 perfectly, but Mandrake 8.2 won't even install. When I posted it on the Mandrake list, several with this CPU said they had no problems, but several also said they had problems just like me. Eventually the consensus seemed to be it is a matter of the chipset more than the CPU. *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional KDE 3.0.0 KMail 1.4 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S.
