I have just installed webmin 1.180 on two SuSE boxes and when I try to connect to them, I get an error : Connection terminated unexpectedly. Funnny thing is that I installed the same webmin on a production box a while ago and that works fine. The only hit I get with google is a post to a redhat list and the person mentions that one should look in /etc/httpd/logs/error_log. But this seems like a very old configurationa dn definately not the way SuSE does it. Any ideas? The logs should be under /var/log somewhere. Also, what about the firewall? Sunny -- Get Firefox http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates&id=10745&t=85

No, there are no logs for webmin under /var/log. That is where I would expect them to be. The connection is not going through the firewall. I see that you've already solved this problem, but just for future reference, Webmin keeps its logs in /var/webmin. -- Homepage http://scottj.org XFce desktop environment http://www.xfce.org Goodies for the XFce desktop http://xfce-goodies.berlios.de GPG public key ID: 811B00AB

If you have SSLeay installed you will need to use https instead of http to connect. Just a thought. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

I was using https and I never thought of just using http. That works. I also installed SSLeay and now I don't get the error when connetcting with https, but it takes ages. But this webmin installation is only needed to get screenshots for a quick ref guide for a customer, so I am not too much bothered with it, as long as I can log in and get to all the modules.
