I read that the compatibilty of the Firewire card is more important. Don't get one with "Designed For CrapXPEE"" label on it. Rather get on OHCI compliant one. The one that I have worked without a hitch on a Dell Dimension 8100 and SuSE 8.0 Pro 1395 FireWire Home DV Editing it Model NN2614 SIIG, Inc. www.siig.com I have my Canon ZR MC 45 connected to it. For Video editing, cropping etc, you are far better of using Windows, however. The video editing, exporting/modifying tools on Linux, in my opinion SUCK and you are likely to do nothing but just waste your time trying to do video on Linux. Its to a point where I gave up. The best one that I was told was Kino. Back when version 0.5 days I had it compiled but couldn't make any sense on how to use it. Plus all the functionality was not available in a GUI. They wanted to let the user learn 'vi' like commands. Excuse me---but not every linux user is a vi freak. Last that I heard was MainActor 5 was not going to be available on Linux for a while. The company was giving all its attention to the Windows version and the Linux version would be released sometime after the Windows one. Anyways, good luck. Salman
