Hello Folks: Background I have a SuSE installation where I recently added a hard disk, and using YAST, partitioned it in two and added it to the sytem. Presumably YAST configured the /etc/fstab.conf because: * the new drive hdb1 (/data) and hdb2 (/media) appears * the drives are operational Problem I've just been notified that I have to return the drive so I returned to YAST and deleted all partitions from the hdb disk. I assumed, YAST will automatically do the rest of ensuring the second drive is programatically removed from the system. So I disconnected it after shutdown and restarted my system. Upon startup, I received a ton of errors complaining that it could not find hdb Questions 1. What more do I have to do to properly remove the drive (USING YAST PREFERABLY) from my system. 2. If not using YAST, what are the steps for me to (a) add a new drive or (b) remove it. Thank you all. Lester __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Use your favorite editor and edit the /etc/fstab file. Yast may put the entries there but won't remove them. You'll have to do it manually. Regards -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com

=======================snip================================ I just added a drive yesterday, got it partitioned and filesystems created. As part of the process I was looking through through my tips file and ran across your e-mail. I was curious how you used yast to add a hard drive to your system. When I type "yast" into my terminal its interface comes up, but as I look through the options I see nothing about disks. Just curious. Thanks dh
