Hi all, I have a raid1 as root-partition (md0), and I found in /lost+found 32.715 items, about 1,5 GB big. cat /proc/mdtst seems to give all normal: backupserver:/lost+found # cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] md1 : active raid1 sdb2[0] sda2[1] 1052160 blocks [2/2] [UU] md0 : active raid1 sdb3[1] sda3[0] 389616320 blocks [2/2] [UU] unused devices: <none> Is so much in lost+found normal, or is something going on?? -- L. de Braal BraHa Systems NL - Terneuzen T +31 115 649333 F +31 115 649444

Is so much in lost+found normal, or is something going on??
Hi Leen, I only see items in lost+found /after/ I've run a --rebuild-tree on reiserfs filesystems and I only do /that/ after '--fix-fixable' has been unable to repair all the corruptions. regards, Carl

Nothing should ever be in lost+found under normal circumstances. Items are placed there by fsck, when it discovers files that are incorrectly unlinked, or some other problem So you've had some sort of file system problem, you've run fsck, and it has placed a lot of data there. Go through it, and see if there's anything you want to rescue, and delete the rest

I have been having a serious power-outage some time ago, yes. Not having found troubles in normal working of the system, it is used for one-on-one backups with rsync. So troubles in the backed-up data are repaired with rsync on the next session, I presume. I will walk through then, to see if there are critical things. Thanks for help.

Raid doesn't help in these situations. Those are files lost rescued by fsck. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
