I am considering the switch to S.u.S.E and would like to know if the distribution is yet libc6. TIA, Richard -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Has anyone tried quake2 on S.u.S.E. Linux? And has anyone done this using the Diamond Monster 3d Voodoo card? I was just wondering what was required for libraries and what problems people have run into. Also can linux use the Voodoo card for anything other than quake based games? This is my first time using S.u.S.E. version of linux. I have to say, I am very impressed with ease of installation, and ability to work with all my hardware immediately without having to relink kernel a few times. VERY NICE JOB. 3dfx cards work fine in linux. You need mesa 2.6 (3.0 is broken and not suitable for quake/quake2), and linuxglide, which is available at <A HREF="http://www.3dfx.com</A">http://www.3dfx.com</A>. Adding the line export SST_GRXCLK=57 to /etc/profile increases framerate by 4-5 f.p.s. This is the default clock setting in windows, so don't worry about overclocking it, linux defaults to 50 instead of 57. Chris Geske wrote:

Hopefully SuSE 6.0 will come out on schedule this summer. It will be SuSE's first glibc based dist. If unexpected problems arise they may release another libc dist as 5.3, but personally I would rather wait a little longer for a finished glibc dist than have them release another libc5 dist.
