Carlos, Thanks for the help. The problem is that I've taken the list of cdrom writers know to be supported (found at www.suse.com) by SuSE to the folks responsible for purchasing. It's been some time now. Apparently, the're having trouble locating any of the drives specified on the list. I may be wrong but I think the cdrom writers on that list are fairly old. I was hoping that someone might recommend a newer model cdrom writer that is known to work with SuSE. I just want to thank you once again for replying to this message.
