More then one IP on a PCMCIA-NIC
Hi all! I have an old Lappy which i use as experimental Server... (Nice footprint) I am currently eperimenting with Firewalling and a few other things. I only have one nic... *sigh* My problem: I cant set multiple IP's on the single PCMCIA card. I tried setting the eth0:0 and eth0:1 under Yast. eth0:0 = 192.168.0.1 eth0:1 = 192.168.0.4 But i get a error when trying to restart the network: Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.pcmcia... Warning : More than one network device defined and active !! Definition for eth0:0 will be used !! And thats all she wrote.. This is what gives:
ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:08:44:78:D3 inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 <Several lines removed>
lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 <Several lines removed> If i try:
ifconfig eth0:0 eth0:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:08:44:78:D3 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:3 Base address:0x300 ifconfig eth0:1 eth0:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:08:44:78:D3 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:3 Base address:0x300
How do i make the card kick BOTH adresses up? -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rjhn@linux.nu mob : +46 70 464 99 39 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
