[opensuse] vlc from packman repository - warning?
The packman community repository seems to have a vlc version higher than the "real" vlc repository, at least for suse 10.3. after testing it, most of the videos i used to play on vlc just don't any more, errors appear like "Vlc can not play xvid, no way to fix that" etc. going back to the older version does not help, now vlc seems fully broken. apparently the "uninstall" thru yast is behaving like a microsoft uninstall, no way to go back to the earlier version cleanly!!!! is it a bug or drm crippling? btw, it is a good thing that mplayer seems unaffected by this, so not much is lost..but i would like to get vlc back, very rarely there comes a file that vlc could play while mplayer can't. d. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

neither, but incompatible packages, iirc. You cannot mix vlc sources, use either packman or vlc.com, but DO NOT MIX! -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
