[opensuse] Booting from LiveCD dumped on a directory (LiveHD)
Since the official KDE LiveCD image is too big to fit on a CD, I am trying to boot into openSUSE 12.3 by dumping the contents of the ISO file into a directory (/boot/openSUSE) on /dev/sda1, and then configuring LILO to boot from it. I've been able to do this on Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora, but unfortunately in openSUSE I'm met with the message "Searching for boot device in Application ID..." and then "Failed to find MBR identifier!". I thought that setting `nombridcheck' would help, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Here is the "most correct" version of what I got so far, although I tried with many other parameters: image = /boot/openSUSE/boot/i386/loader/linux label = "openSUSE 12.3" root = "UUID=98960673-d777-4ca5-93d0-56065ea9e56e" initrd = /boot/openSUSE/boot/i386/loader/initrd addappend = "ramdisk_size=512000 ramdisk_blocksize=4096 quiet preloadlog=/dev/null showopts kiwidebug=1 livecd_config=/boot/openSUSE/config.isoclient" Is it possible to boot the Live openSUSE medium in such way?
