I would have chrooted into the installed system and tried yast2 bootloader first.
I can do that, I have still not done what I intended. It is encrypted, though. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

It shows Grub for EFI, Protective MBR flag set correct kernel options All ok. Yet, efibootmgr shows no entry for the new system. :-? Ah, and the "boot from hardisk" entry on the installation media also failed. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Says "not a valid root device". But "installation" also fails - this time I'm using the usb3 socket. Says something like kernel not loaded, load it first. Same on the correct socket - but this stick was working some hours ago! Power off and try again. Now runs, usb3. Installing... And it boots! It was the encryption. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. That's because you forgot to hold your left ear while hopping around on your right foot whistling Dixie. Prerequisite for encrypted install -- not worth the trouble. If they get past S&W, they can have the computer... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Riiight. I forgot :-)

Well, I was encrypting all, which in this case was "/" and "swap". No "/home" partition. So, they can not access anything. Maybe the CIA can decipher such a disk, but not a common burglar. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Heh. You may remember Xen. He had some encrypted disk(s) impounded and after half a year or so the police asked him how to open them up. They had had no progress. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

I would have done 'mount -a' or 'mount /boot/efi/' after acquiring the chroot prompt, then started YaST. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. Team OS/2 ** Reg.
