Matt, Removing "sync" from the floppy line in /etc/fstab fixed my problems. Don't understand why it did not for Pelibali. I also set my floppy to manual mount instead of the subfs, automatic mounting. Don't know if that is the difference or not, but writes are quite fast now for me.
regards, Lee
Lee, So far it seems to work. Thanks! I just did a breif test with a 200k+ file, which took several minutes before, now takes 5 to 10 seconds. I noticed in previous discussions on this subject that by removing "sync" from fstab you're just avoiding real-time write to the floppy, and possibly not actually getting the faster performance. So here's what I did... - if /dev/fd0 is mounted then unmount it - mount /dev/fd0 - perform copy to floppy - umount /dev/fd0 - moved floppy to my old suse 8.1 system and read it - it worked! Thanks again Lee!
