I want hostname to report "hostname.domainname" by default without giving the fqdn option. The contents of /etc/HOSTNAME are hostname.domainname, and the first entry in /etc/hosts after the network address for the system is hostname.domainname followed by hostname: 1921.168.1.250 hostname.domainname hostname But when booting the system, "hostname" always reports hostname and domainname reports nothing. I can manually set it with "hostname hostname.domainname", but there must be a configuration somewhere that is setting it to something besides the contents of /etc/HOSTNAME. Can anyone provide direction here? Thank you. -- -M There are 10 kinds of people in this world: Those who can count in binary and those who cannot.
