Hey Group: I did download and compile Flight Gear. I am now faced with obtaining a USB or game port - Joystick. Is there a recommendation for a Joystick? It seems most of them in the US are USB. -- 73 de Donn Washburn __ " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB / / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 307 Savoy St. / /__ / / / \/ / / /_/ / \ \/ / Sugar Land, TX 77478 /_____/ /_/ /_/\__/ /_____/ /_/\_\ LL# 1.281.242.3256 a MSDOS Virus "Free Zone" OS Email: n5xwb@hal-pc.org Info: http://www.austinlug.org

Go for USB, much less hassle usually. I am using a Siatek USB Cyborg Gold. Plug and play pretty much, although I did have to calibrate it. What flightsim did you get? Matt

What about force feedback joysticks, do they work in linux? What happens if the game doesn't use feedback, does the joystick still centers, as a normal spring loaded one would do? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I suppose that there are "good" joysticks, but my experience is that they're all junk. I think you'll have to buy real "control wheels," "rudder pedals," etc. That would be better anyway. I used to actually fly, but had to quit for medical reasons. I hear the latest MS war in Europe game is really good. Don't know what there is in Linux. I'm not much for games. Good luck. --doug At 20:45 01/19/2003 -0600, Donn aka N5XWB wrote:

The CH product line is pretty expensive :). And I think most are now USB. I'd love to have rudders too... There are no MS style war sims on Linux, best flightsim happens to be FlightGear. Matt
