Re: [opensuse] Codecs for Xine
----- Original Message ----

Hi all,
Does anyone know where I might get a codec to allow Xine to play WVM version 9? I've noticed that while my codec collection seems to cover other versions of WMV, this, presumably newer, standard isn't supported, and it's becoming increasingly common (sadly!)
Cheers, Simon

Go to YaST --> Community Repositories
Check the "Packman" repository box.
Then open "Software Management" and install libxine1
you can also install using:
sudo zypper in libxine1

Thanks for this Ben,
The first option I don't quite follow. There's nothing in my YaST called Community Repositories (I'm on 10.2 if that makes a difference).
The second option causes errors:
simon@linux:~> sudo zypper in libxine1

It does.

You can't unless you did 1), and you didn't. Follow the instructions here: http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_Formats/10.2 However, that doesn't mean that procedure will add or will not add the needed codec for WVM v 9. Only that you will have the latest. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
