RE: [opensuse] Re: Interactive Firewall Needed
I don't know what the silver bullet will be - clearly neither approach works right - windows works and is easy, but is as insecure as, >well, windows, on the other hand, Linux can be really secure, but ends up being hard to use for the folk who don't want to know what a >kernel is, etc, etc..
Stupid people who don't learn the NECESSARY things about how to drive a car safely get into crashes and die.
Same thing goes for stupid people who want to use computers without making the NECESSARY effort to properly understand the thing, and/or pay someone to do that for them.
Those people who demand that the most complex machines man has ever made be as simple to use as a toaster and shouldn't need to be studied and understood are, quite simply, unrealistic; just because Bill Gates successfully sold them that pipe dream doesn't make them any less out-of-touch with reality.
The key difference being no one dies from [trivial] misuse of a computer. That, coupled with the fact that while for a car you are required to get a license to drive, you need no such license for a computer. People are inherently lazy and will take the path of least resistance, ie, not bother to learn how to use a computer, only the applications they use, etc. Phil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
