I am hunting a wired problem: /etc/rd.c/apache start answers: Starting httpd [SuSEHelp PHP4 mod_perl Jserv LDAP contrib backhand SAP_fastcgi ] /etc/rc.d/apache: line 286: 5287 Segmentation fault $HTTPD_BIN $INET6 -t -f /etc/httpd/httpd.conf $MODULES >/var/log/httpd/rcappache.log 2>&1 That behavior started yesterday at 5 pm. Before it worked!!! bye Ronald Ronald Wiplinger (ÃQ¤¯¯Ç), CEO, ELMIT - The Solution Provider Tel. +886 2 8809-7980, Fax. +886 2 2809-0183, Mobile: +886 915 653-452 Net2Phone:8869550066, ICQ: 111651169 http://www.elmit.com http://www.wiplinger.org

I have a had a couple cases when messing around with the config for apache that I add something, stop and start apache and I get a segmentation violation. I then I remove my added lines and stop and start apache and STILL get the seg vio. I then reboot the whole server and it comes up just fine. Sorry no real details or solutions, but it may be worth a reboot if you are able. Does Apache load any modules into memory that would stay there if the core Apache was stopped? Greg Engel

I have already rebooted several times, I have copied from another machine the config file and the same. The funny thing is that it worked till 5 pm and than it did not work anymore !!! I know it is also no good hint what could have been happened. I tried even to figure out if in the menioned line is something bad, but could not figure out anything of that! If I have no other hint anymore, than I re-install the apache !!! bye Ronald

Have you tried disabling all of the modules in /etc/rc.config.d/apache.rc.config? I had the same problem (only on one box, though, weird) and I disabled everything except PHP4 and now all works fine. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
