Maybe this vendor is offering the boxed set of 8.0 pro. The quanity is listed as 1. Maybe I should bid so I can get another copy of the #2 disk. It was ruined by a hungry cdrom. Haven't heard back from SuSE about getting one through them. ;o) Henry -- When I discovered Linux I also discovered that I didn't need Microsoft anymore. SuSE 8.0 Linux user # 95851
I was downloading a few themes for KDE, and I found that several screenshots show a little monitoring tool running as a long vertical bar, with severeal entries and graphs showing CPU, MEmory, net interfaces and others.... Anyone knows what tool is this, and where can I find it? Is it included in SuSE 7.3 cds? Thanks -------------------------------------------------------- Juan Francisco Torres Ch.

Yeah, this sort of thing annoys the hell out of me. But then, I look at it from the point of view of my personal philosophy. To wit: It is perfectly reasonable for a customer to request a replacement of a single CD from a set. The only considerations should be: a) if it was damaged when you got it, the replacement should be free (and very, very prompt). b) if you damaged/lost it after initially receiving it in good order, the company could/should charge you their cost to replace it -- i.e., handling and shipping (a few seconds of a clerk's time, the cost of a mass-production CD, and postage). Initially, the company has what can be considered a legitimate claim of right, to be the only source of replacement copies. They hold the copyright. However, if they abdicate their responsibility by ignoring a simple -- and likely rather common -- request for a replacement part (for a portion of a product that will be superseded in less than four months), then I take that as a de-facto statement from the company that "We choose not to make REPLACEMENT copies of legitimately purchased CDs available, so it's up for grabs for anybody to do so. By our [in-]action, we declare that we place no value on helping our customers to fix a problem with our product that admittedly the customer brought on himself, therefore we admit that any person (or company) that steps in to fill this service gap is not depriving us of any opportunity for profit (or for customer good will) that is of any interest to us. Go nuts." In other words, while SuSE was addressing requests for spare/replacement parts, I would feel honor-bound to respect their right to do it exclusively or to delegate as they saw fit. (Same with any other company in a comparable situation.) However, when they abdicate -- either by overt statement or by omission/inaction -- then I no longer feel constrained. I might still elect to keep a low profile in providing replacement copies to people, because the law is probably going to disagree with the reasonable, common-sense moral stance... but then that's because "the law is a ass", and not because I would be doing anything that was actually wrong. That said, my CD-burner and I don't really have any desire to get into the replacement CD business... :-) /kevin -- "DIRty DEEDS, and they're DONE dirt cheap." [Sing it with me, now...]

I thought the legal situation is this, you pay for a licence and that gives you the right to do certain things including having the software. If you have a licence regardless of what software you have the right to the software regardless of the source. So long as its the same software, down to the last version number then it has to be completely legal -- .oOO-Richard-Sheffield-UK-OOo.
