[S.u.S.E. Linux] Printer output is so small I can't read it!
I'm a newbie who has just installed SuSE Linux 5.2, and I installed my HP DeskJet 850C color printer using YaST (fortunately it was on the list). I selected 'letter' size paper. The problem is that everything that I print (using lpr) comes out jammed in less than one quarter of a page, and so small it's painfull to read. Another problem is that no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the 'CRISP' editor to print anything. Is there a fix for either of these problems? ------------------------------------------------ Man's mind is his basic tool of survival! Michael, I found the apsfilter all right, and changed the printing from 2 pages to 1 page, but my question is, how do you change the default page length? It seemingly is 66 lines a page, but my printer keeps a page + about 10 more lines. I suspect the the font size may be the problem, but I cann't find where you change the "default" settings or either the fonts or the page length. Any advice for me? Michael Lankton wrote:

I've changed 'apsfilterrc' to read 1n (it was 2n), but this has not changed the fact that a full page of text is printing in just the top left quarter of a page of paper for me. It may be bigger than before by a factor of two, but it's still not there yet. Has anyone else gotten an HP 850C (or 855C) to run with SuSE, and if so, can you provide some pointers. ------------------------------------------------ Man's mind is his basic tool of survival! That is curious. I have a HP Deskjet 692c, and changing the format to 1n gives me perfect letter printing. I am using the cdj550 driver. I have no experience with your model, wish I could be more help. Lawrence Sayre wrote:

Is there a simple way to let people log my system in ftp without allowing them the shell access ? I'd want not to edit /etc/passwd and the permissions of the file system. All should be managed by the ftp-server application. tnx in advance :) Ciao, -Pierluigi CHECCHI (Rome city, JN61FU) --Random signature follows: Finche' esisteranno uomini che sanno 200 parole e uomini che ne sanno 2000 i primi saranno succubi dei secondi. -- Da Rodari, via BUONGIORNO! p.checchi@checchi.it.eu.org ik0xfa@amsat.org <A HREF="http://www.agora.stm.it/P.Checchi"><A HREF="http://www.agora.stm.it/P.Checchi</A">http://www.agora.stm.it/P.Checchi</A</A>> ---Keep the frequency clear -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I believe, printing is disabled in the demo version of CRISP. This could be your problem if you are able to print from other X apps. -- Arun Khan -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
