Re: [SuSE Linux] Fwd: Re: RPM (was gtk+)
I don't agree with that. The /etc/xf86config file contains this information and if I read the manual well this directory contains the databases with hw-specs and other stuff. I agree with the fact that there isn't a X11 tree in /etc wich should have been there.
Personally, I don't mind one way or the other. Put it wherever you like. It's just that without an /etc/X11, you're in violation of the FHS...?
- /sbin/init.d? (p. 13) /sbin is supposed to contain only system administration binaries. Personally, I would expect init.d to be found among the host-specific files in /etc.
Wrong, in FSSTD there is also stated that the /etc tree doesn't contain executables. SuSE has moved these (according to manual chapter 11) files to a place where System V hold's them.
Not wrong. The FHS says no binaries, but says nothing about executables. Personally, I would expect to find system administration tools in /sbin (as the FHS says), and changing, site-specific scripts in /etc (along with all the other site-specific files). - Scott - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
