[opensuse] zypper cli and yast frontend
Hi, is there a difference in the functionality of: zypper up -t package -t patch and using software management module in Yast/Packages/All packages/update if newer version is available? For what I see, they behave differently. What is the correct CLI zypper command to get the same behavior? Sunny, I think simply 'zypper up -t package' is the equivalent of yast -> s/w management -> packages -> all packages -> update if newer available. I believe the '-t package' and the 'all packages -> update if newer available' will update all packages to newer packages _without_ limiting the update to patches. I'm not sure what the result of having two '-t' options on the cli would be. Possibly, the second -t, the '-t patch' is overriding the first '-t package' in the way you are doing it. -- David C. David, thanks for the reply. If I do not add -t patch, it does not include deltas. And "update if newer available" does include them. So, there is a similarity, but not equality :( Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Maybe: zypper up && zypper up -t package ;-) Seriously, I thought I used to do it in one call, but actually I was using 2 zypper calls to fully update: # For patches: sudo zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks update --auto-agree-with-licenses --no-confirm # For packages: sudo zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks update --type package --auto-agree-with-licenses --no-confirm -- David C.
