RE: [SLE] Suse7.1, Nvidia Drivers freeze on KDE logout
Unfortunatelly i have the same problem with SuSe 7.2, Geforce3 and AMD Althon. Also manifested itself in SuSE 7.3 I can not even run Sax2! This is what i got so far. Help from SuSE: Update Sax2, hwinfo and pam_devprm; all rpm from suse. Add all users to the 'video' group. (Does not work for me)
From the net: Add 'mem=nopentium' add the boot line. The first time i used this it worked. Thereafter never! If you have 2 memory modules, remove one. and check if that is the problem. The first time i used this it worked. Therafter never!
So still no results. From my /etc/XF86Config:
Section "Device" BoardName "GeForce 3" Driver "nvidia" Identifier "Device[0]" Option "NvAGP" "2" Screen 0 VendorName "nVidia" EndSection The option NvAGP controls how AGP is used: 0 - disable AGP 1 - use nVidia AGP support 2 - use kernel based AGPGART module 3 - I don't care, use either Try option 0 first to see if the problem goes away. You can try the other options if 0 does work. Option 1 only has a limited number of supported chipsets. Option 2, the AGPGART module option, depends on you compiling this into your kernel and also has a limited nunmber of supported chipsets. What motherboard are you using? I have had great success using option 2, the AGPGART module, with my VIA KT266A chipset. I was unable to get 4x AGP with option 1. Sorry in advance if you have already tried this.
Good luck, Armand
