9.0 Install with intel D865perl on SATA drive?
Hello, I am attempting to install SuSE 9.0 onto a SATA drive attached to SATA controller on my intel D865perl motherboard. Naturally, the drivers for the SATA controller are not available on the 9.0 CD. As this chipset is quite popular, I am assuming there must be some sort of work around. Any help would be most appreciated. Dominic

You should set 'compatibility' mode in your bios settings.... but learn what that does first. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. Unless you have access to the sources to compile a module you will be SOL. If you have the sources you have a lot of work ahead to be able to not only install but upgrade linux. I suggest you set the controllers to normal IDE use to make your life more enjoyable. I have been through what you are looking to do for a different controller and it is -no- picnic. You have to jump through many hoops just to be able to install the kernel let alone upgrade the kernel. Ken
