You can find an alpha version of a script here: <URL:http://www.davjam.org/~davjam/linux/makeSUSEcd/> although it's not likely to be a 6 CD set of images. I've just finished testing a CD set created from the 11.1a2 DVD, and it built 6 CDs of about 680MB and 695MB, and one of about 145MB. The process of splitting up the DVD_DIR to create the CDs was quite easy, basically copying the top the boot, docu, dosutils, images and suse/setup directories into the CD1 directory. After that, I kept copying the contents of suse/i586, suse/i686 and suse/noarch, one file at a time, and once the CD directory exceeded 680MB, I created a new one. Finally, after making sure everything was properly in place, the media.1/media file specified the correct number of CDs, and everything was signed as it should be, I created the CD ISOs and used them to perform an installation. The installation I performed was for a KDE 3.5 desktop, with the addition of the Linux Kernel Development pattern, the Console Tools pattern, and the Integrated Development Environments pattern. During the installation, there was some juggling of CDs. Starting with CD1, the other CDs were requested in the order CD2, CD3, CD4, CD1, CD5, CD6, CD7. As 11.1 has the same feature the boxed version of 10.3 had, where it will store the required packages in a cache on the target disc, this did mean the disc swaps were reduced the swaps to a minimum. Having finished the installation with the 11.1a2 CDs, I tweaked the maximum CD sizes the script creates a little bit, and repeated the test install using those. This time the CD images are all about 695MB, except CD7 which is 335MB. Interestingly, after the images were deployed, CD1 wasn't used. You can find a few screen-shots for the 11.1a2 installation here: <URL:http://www.her-free-pictures.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1371> and some screen-shots from the 11.0 installation here: <URL:http://www.her-free-pictures.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1413> Regards, David Bolt -- Team Acorn: http://www.distributed.net/ OGR-P2 @ ~100Mnodes RC5-72 @ ~15Mkeys SUSE 10.1 32 | | openSUSE 10.3 32b | openSUSE 11.0 32b | openSUSE 10.2 64b | openSUSE 10.3 64b | openSUSE 11.0 64b RISC OS 3.6 | TOS 4.02 | openSUSE 10.3 PPC | RISC OS 3.11 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
