Networking printers/Samba + Netatalk
Hi, I have two laser printers - Tektronix Phaser 740 (B&W, PostScript, Ethernet), and Apple LaserWriter 12/640PS (B&W, PostScript, Ethernet, Duplex, AppleTalk only), both need to be shared via SuSE X86 Pro print server (no direct printing), with both Macs and PCs. lpd and apsfilter setup manual is somewhat confusing. Does anyone has a guide, how-to or just suggestion how to do it? PS. I have both Samba and Netatalk running OK, bot no CUPS. Thanks in advance Andrei

I'm not sure for Mac, but it worked for windows PCs for me. I configured HP LaserJet5 and Phaser 740 (all ethernet) as remote printers on a SuSE box and then exported them through samba to windows machines. It was nothing manual, I configured them from yast, just selected remote and Postscript, no apsfilter tweaking. It worked like a charm. But it was in my previous job... -Kastus
