[opensuse] Firefox 3 + KMail + Evolution = ??
I just noticed something wierd. I went to subscribe to a netbeans mailing list and clicked on the mailto: link on the page. After a short pause, Evoultion popped up with a new message window. (I have evolution loaded for reading my corporate emails.) I tried in FF2 and Kmail popped up as expected. The about:config in FF3 is the same as in FF2, which reads: network.protocol-handler.app.mailto kmail Now, in FF3, there are extra items which show up when I search on mailto... gecko.handlerService.schemes.mailto... They seem to point to chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties Wierd. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Probably something changed in Firefox. For FF2 these network.protocol-handler prefs were overriding the settings found by gconf. That might have changed and you have set evolution as mailto handler in gconf. Check by gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/mailto/command You should set kmail using gconf-editor then.

chrome://browser-region/locale/region.properties
That is a new feature of Firefox 3. Firefox does define available web applications for url-handlers. This depends also on the language you are using for the UI. Therefore it's a reference to a locale chrome URI. I haven't checked completely yet but I think it only is used if the system can't find any other url-handler for the "protocol" and you would get a dialog if you would like to open the default web application. You should see an example when you are using a webcal: link. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I assumed this was command line: kai@xwing:~> gconftool-2 -g /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/mailto/command evolution %s

Where is that? I don't have anything under Applicatins>System>Configuration. Just use Alt-F2 or commandline to start gconf-editor. It _could_ be that you don't have it installed though and we need to use gconftool-2 to set it. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
