Ben, If you insist on using Outlook, then please set some margins in the mailer. Text scrolled across the screen is irritating to say the least, but sometimes makes it difficult to read. Thanks for your help. Lee -- --- KMail v1.6.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
Suse 9.1 has a partition manager in the installer that will easily do
what you want when you install it, don't worry about the resize
reiserfs warning, its worked fine for me multiple times :)

Are there any tool to move the disk partitions and make space for the new instal of SUse 9.1 as a dual boot install, just as PQ magic does for windows partitons? In addition to the partitioner in the SuSE installer, QTParted is a very good graphical partition tool. I had a need to reorganize my partitions a bit, booted the standalone Knoppix distro and ran qtparted.
However, no matter what tool you use, there is some risk.

I used the RIP iso to shrink my NTFS partition and create partitions for the installation of SuSE9.1 onto a Dell Inspiron 1150. Process went smoothly without a hitch. Both OS's have worked fine for about 3 weeks now. But to be truthful, I rarely boot the xp, to difficult to work with compared to SuSE9.1. You can get the iso at sunsite.rediris.es/sites2/ibiblio.org/linux/system/recovery The latest is RIP-10.2.iso.bin. Simply download that, remove the .bin and burn the rest to a cd. It will be bootable and has a whole bunch of programs useful to mess with your drives. Be sure to get the Readme.txt and read it BEFORE you do anything else, cause it will tell you about each program and how to use them. The readme even has a howto to boot it from a USB flash drive among other options. Regards, Richard

First question was related to ftp server :) For ftp client there is bearftp, which is a decent gui ftp client. Daniel shaun murphy wrote:

Daniel & Shaun, I think there might be one better, plus an excellent file manager as well. Actually brings back the good old days of Amiga to mind. I don't know why SuSE quit including it on the cd's, but I have been missing it since 8.2 or 9.0 versions. It's name is Krusader. I just compiled the new version 1.40 for SuSE 9.1 and it keeps getting better with each release! I used one of SuSE's spec files for an older build to build a rpm. I was just playing around, after installing it, to see how it behaved with ftp stuff and it worked a treat! Great stuff,
I'll look that up a bit later.
Thank you.

On SuSE Standard Server 8 I have gFTP which I find works well. I downloaded
it. Just search Google for Gftp and Linux and you should get a link.
It is GUI driven and i have had no problems since the install.
I am not sure if it is the best or is secure as i use it in a protected LAN
environment so security is not a major concern.
Keep well

Both are nice. But neither is an ftp *server*
So what's a good server then? Something with a nice GUI and easy to
configure preferably. Something akin to Bulletproof ftp server would
be nice. I have looked at GLFTPD which looks like you need a rocket
science degree to configure it.

If you're just looking for a personal ftp server, for occasional file sharing, then http://www.mycgiserver.com/~ranab/ftp/ will perhaps do it? It's GUI based If you want to set up a more serious ftp server, then vsftpd or proftpd will be good choices. proftpd it looks like you'll have to compile yourself, but you can configure it very easily with webmin once it's installed. vsftpd is the choice where security is concerned, although because security comes first, it has less features than other servers. No GUI that I know of, but the config file is very easy to read and configure

Well, Rocket Science isn't really that difficult ... it should be a breeze.
