[opensuse] Amarok crash and KDE wierdness
Anyone else getting Amarok to crash whenever you try and open it? Here is what happens:
amarok KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing... KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit KCrash: Connect sock_file=/home/george/.kde4/socket-tribaltrekker/kdeinit4__0 unnamed app(8642): Communication problem with "amarok" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "
It doesn't seem to give much information. I think there is something wrong with my system - KDE has been acting strangely lately. Kwin is crashing very frequently, and for a while on startup my screens would all just blink until I clicked in the middle of the screen. What is the best suggestion of how to reset KDE to a factory default setting? I have heard I can just delete the .config file, but I am hesitant to do that just yet. -- George Box: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.1 | Plasma 5.4.7, Qt 5.7.0 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What openSUSE release? It works here.
rpm -qa | grep plasma
Using KDE Plasma 5 on 42.1, and it only crashes on my desktop. Laptop works fine. My plasma version is either 5.7 or 5.8, but I am not sure which. When I run an rpm check on plasma it shows packages from both versions installed: plasma-nm5-5.8.2-130.1.x86_64 plasma5-pk-updates-0.2-22.1.x86_64 plasma-framework-lang-5.27.0-147.1.noarch plasma-nm5-vpnc-5.8.2-130.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-openconnect-5.8.2-130.1.x86_64 plasma5-addons-5.7.0-99.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-lang-5.8.2-130.1.noarch plasma-framework-5.27.0-147.1.x86_64 plasma5-addons-lang-5.7.0-99.1.noarch plasma5-session-5.7.4-78.1.noarch plasma-nm5-pptp-5.8.2-130.1.x86_64 plasma5-desktop-branding-openSUSE-13.3-160.1.x86_64 plasma5-pa-5.8.2-68.1.x86_64 plasma5-pk-updates-lang-0.2-22.1.noarch plasma-framework-private-5.27.0-147.1.x86_64 plasma-nm5-openvpn-5.8.2-130.1.x86_64 plasma5-desktop-kimpanel-5.7.95-198.1.x86_64 plasma5-desktop-5.7.4-190.1.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-lang-5.7.4-251.1.noarch plasma5-workspace-branding-openSUSE-13.3-160.1.x86_64 plasma5-pa-lang-5.8.2-68.1.noarch plasma5-desktop-lang-5.7.4-190.1.noarch plasma-framework-components-5.27.0-147.1.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-libs-5.7.4-251.1.x86_64 plasma5-integration-plugin-5.8.2-2.1.x86_64 plasma5-workspace-5.7.4-251.1.x86_64 -- George Box: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.1 | Plasma 5.4.7, Qt 5.7.0 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I also checked on running amarok, and I get this error in the popup dialog: Executable: amarok PID: 23038 Signal: Segmentation fault (11) Time: 10/31/16 10:06:33 AM What is a "segmentation fault"? -- George Box: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.1 | Plasma 5.4.7, Qt 5.7.0 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.1 | KDE Plasma 5 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
