Hello, I have a Compaq x1050 with suse 9.2. I have sucessfully configured a wireless connection, but it only operates once after linux is booted. If the connection is dropped, for example using rcnetwork restart it will not go up again. Only after rebooting. I suspect that it is related to the firmware image that must be loaded into the wifi card when the driver is initialized. Can anybody help me? Flavio Arthur Ferreira

Have you tried depmod -a (or adding the module to your modules.conf file)? -- ..."Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio

Flavio, I've resorted to creating a "profile" for the Internet Cafe I go to, one for at home where I use a modem, and one for work. It's been my experience that regular ethernet seems to interfere with the routing of wireless cards, so I use a profile where I've disabled regular ethernet. Using profiles is pretty easy. It's covered either in the user or admin guide. Cheers, Charles -- Charles McColm, charm@porchlight.ca http://tuxspot.blogspot.com/

Or either you can use ifplugd so that the ethernet interface is only enabled when you plug the cable in. -- ================================================================= Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) ----------------------------------------------------------------- The one sticking point between us and the open-source community is that we actually think that compatibility matters. ----------------------------------------------------------------- -James Gosling, creator of Java =================================================================
