Believe it or not, the Perl newsgroup is, by comparison to the #perl IRC, a kind place to be. Or maybe I just do not fit the specialised model of those who feel at ease in this chat. A great deal of irrelevant things are admissible, while Perl questions often raise violent, repulsive reactions. I've been lucky recently. If we except a rather small amount of letters lacking elegance, I like the spirit in suse-linux-e, which I have read for a few weeks by now. I glad having avoid some other lists that have been mentioned recently. I say that I've been lucky, because when I recently switched from Perl to Python[1], I found a similar friendly, helping crowd. ---------- [1] In fact, to tell the truth, I got away of Perl, towards Python, mainly after I've read people comparing the spirit of the groups. This is only once I made that move that I really started to understand the virtues of Python. With SuSE and Python, my computer life is significantly happier. :-) P.S.- Oh, and by the way. SuSE 6.2 runs Python 1.5.2, while SuSE 6.1 runs Python 1.5.1, which is much older.
