I am failing miserably to get tripwire set up and initialised on 9.0. The problem is with twadmin, which I cannot get to create a configuration file. I have tried on several systems but all behave identically. Working through the cookbook found at /usr/share/doc/packages/tripwire/README.SuSE as root. Step 1, create local and site keys, no problem Step 2, fails as follows:- smc:/etc/tripwire # twadmin -m F -v -S site.key twcfg.txt Tripwire(R) 2.3.1.2 for Linux Tripwire 2.3 Portions copyright 2000 Tripwire, Inc. Using plaintext config file: /etc/tripwire/twcfg.txt Opening key file: /etc/tripwire/site.key Opening key file: /etc/tripwire/site.key Please enter your site passphrase: Software interrupt forced exit: Segmentation Fault Abort The segmentation fault occurs after a pause for calculation. If I try the no encryption option, it falls over immediately with the same segmentation fault:- smc:/etc/tripwire # twadmin -m F -v -e twcfg.txt Tripwire(R) 2.3.1.2 for Linux Tripwire 2.3 Portions copyright 2000 Tripwire, Inc. Using plaintext config file: /etc/tripwire/twcfg.txt Opening key file: /etc/tripwire/site.key Software interrupt forced exit: Segmentation Fault Abort I have tried changing the line LOCALKEYFILE = /etc/tripwire/$(HOSTNAME)-local.key and replaced $(HOSTNAME) with a fixed string, in case of errors in parsing or assigning the HOSTNAME, but this does not affect the outcome. I have run out of things to try now!
