We have had some strange problems with an asus motherboard, and PS/2 mice. But these only occurred while starting X and with the mouse configured ans plugged in. However, you may want to check that this isn't related.

I had a (somewhat) similar problem the other night. Took my system in to school to show the student what a "Real" OS looked liked. Of course, Dickhead here forgot to plug in the (PS/2) mouse. ;> Result, no boot! (Set to boot to runlevel 3) Other result - teacher look like idiot Third result - teacher turns it into a test to see who can figure out the problem? Fourth result - As always, Teacher wins!!! Damn! I just love a story with a happy ending! To get back to the subject, If you try to boot without mouse support, boot will fail! (if booting into any X-server),(never had a boot-single need, so I can't comment on that!) -- This Email is 100% Virus Free! How do I know? Because no Microsoft products were used to generate it!
