[opensuse] OpenSuse distribution has a password
Hello, I wanted to install OpenSuse on my EeePC. I have followed the instrucions at http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_on_the_EeePC Section "Installation from bootable USB drive with YaST Live Installer" I have downloaded the image from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/matz/eeeSUSE and I am highly dissapointed that the 900MB file I have downloaded asks me for a password before I can even extract it to my USB thumbdrice. This password is nowhere to be found on OpenSuse page, I find it very annoying OpenSuse asks for a password in order to EXTRACT a GZip file that contains OpenSuse. I am using PeaZip to gunzip it. Thank you for your help providing this password or pointing me out somwhere else I can download OpenSuse without a password. There is no password for that file. I don't even think you can set a password with gzip So if PeaZip requires a password for that file, that is a bug in PeaZip. Use a different zip program to unzip the image Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If it were in fact a .zip archive, the program to use would be "unzip", which has provision for password. gunzip can not be used for .zip archives. However, looking at the ftp link above, it is a .gz file, so it may be that PeaZip doesn't recognize the type correctly and thinks it is encripted. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
