[opensuse] Gnome screen saver turned off
Suse 10.0 under gnome. Suddenly the screen savers do not run even if I click to a specific one for testing. Under Gnome after a minute, setting is 4 minutes, I get a black screen not a screensaver. What config file do I hack to turn them back on? ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Carl, I seem to recall experiencing this problem in GNOME on 10.0. I eventually discovered the problem was contention between the two installed and activated by default screensavers: one GNOME, the other a generic x-screensaver. I can't recall the label they used for the gnome 'control center' or 'desktop settings' icon, but it should be located in the 'System' menu off your panel. It's the one where you can open up gnome-sessions, adjust window behaviors, set your default fonts, etc. hth & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Tried that it did not work. Does not even let me change from one minute to four. Also no editing of schemeas in the gnome configuration editor. So how do I turn these things on. ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi Carl, I could be wrong, but I thought the solution was to pick one screensaver program to use and 'turn off' the other one. Isn't that what was discussed in the longer thread I referred you to? No the problem is the screen savers do not come on in Gnome. I followed the directions from the links in the earlier email and removed gnome-screensaver. I set the triger time very low as the dot xscreensaver file shows. No screen saver comes up. I have it set for random. ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
